Frequently Asked Questions

Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid (HA)—the main component in most dermal fillers. It catalyzes the hydrolysis of HA chains, making them smaller and more water-soluble, allowing the body to absorb and eliminate them naturally.

Hyaluronidase is widely used in aesthetic medicine not only for aesthetic corrections, but also in medical emergencies, such as vascular occlusions from filler injections.

If you’re unsure whether your filler is based on HA, we can scan the area using ultrasound to assess the type, location, and density before proceeding.

Most filler dissolutions are done blindly, meaning the practitioner injects without visualizing where the filler actually is. This can lead to incomplete results, damage to surrounding tissue, or in rare cases, vascular complications.

We use high-frequency ultrasound imaging to:

  • Precisely locate the filler and avoid vital structures like arteries or veins
  • Assess the depth and spread of the product
  • Monitor dissolving progress live during the procedure

This evidence-based approach improves both safety and aesthetic outcomes.

When performed by a trained medical provider, ultrasound-guided Hylase treatment is considered very safe. Common side effects include mild redness, swelling, or tenderness at the injection site. Rare risks include allergic reactions, especially in patients with known sensitivity to bee stings, as hyaluronidase is also found in bee venom.

We always perform a detailed medical history and can offer a skin test for hypersensitivity if needed.

Most patients see visible improvement within minutes after treatment, especially in superficial areas like the lips or tear troughs. However, full results develop over 24–72 hours, as the body metabolizes and clears the broken-down hyaluronic acid.

In cases of long-standing filler or cross-linked products, additional sessions may be required for complete resolution.

Yes—it is safe to get filler again after Hylase treatment, but we recommend waiting 7 to 14 days to allow swelling to subside and the tissue to normalize. This ensures that the new filler will integrate more evenly and naturally.

We do however, recommend skin-regenerating therapies such as PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)/ PRF or Biostimulators to enhance collagen for natural volume creation.

Avoid Hyaluronidase if you:

  • Have a known allergy to hyaluronidase or bee venom
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Have an active infection in the treatment area

In rare cases, those with autoimmune conditions or recent surgery may also need to wait. Book a consultation to review your personal health status.
