Radiesse® Berlin – Collagen-Stimulating Treatment for Natural Skin Firming
Radiesse® is a collagen stimulator designed to activate your body’s own collagen production. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, Radiesse® isn’t primarily about “adding volume from the outside” — it supports the tissue’s natural regenerative response. At The Retreat Berlin, Radiesse® is used only after a careful assessment and tailored to your anatomy and goals, for results that look natural and medically sound.
What is Radiesse®?
Radiesse® is an approved injectable made of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in a biocompatible gel (carboxymethylcellulose). CaHA is similar to a substance found naturally in the human body (including bone), and the product has been widely used and studied in aesthetic medicine for years.
Radiesse® belongs to a category called collagen stimulators. Its main effect is not instant “water-binding” plumping like hyaluronic acid fillers — it works through a biological stimulation process that encourages the surrounding tissue to build new collagen.
One important difference: hyaluronic acid can be dissolved with hyaluronidase (Hylase). Radiesse® cannot. That’s why proper patient selection and precise technique matter.
How does Radiesse® work?
After injection, the CaHA microspheres settle in the tissue. The body responds in a controlled way: fibroblasts (the collagen-producing cells in the skin) migrate into the area and begin forming new collagen around the particles.
At the same time, the gel carrier can create a subtle immediate effect early on. Over the following months, the gel is naturally broken down, while the newly formed collagen remains — providing structural support that can firm and improve the skin from within.
Typical timeline:
- Right after treatment: mild immediate effect from the gel + possible swelling for a few days
- 4–6 weeks: early improvements in texture and firmness
- 3–6 months: full result as collagen builds
- Longevity: commonly 12–18 months, depending on area and metabolism
Key Benefits
Supports your own collagen
Results are based on collagen your body produces, not a permanent foreign substance.
Gradual, natural-looking change
The improvement develops over weeks, avoiding an abrupt “done” appearance.
Two-phase effect
A subtle early effect from the gel, plus longer-term collagen stimulation from the microspheres.
Long-lasting results
Often longer-lasting than standard hyaluronic acid fillers (typically 12–18 months).
Versatile areas
Face, neck, décolleté, and hands, Radiesse® is clinically established for multiple zones.
Who is Radiesse® for?
Radiesse® is a strong option when the goal is tissue quality and structure, not pinpoint volume in a tiny area.
It can be especially helpful for:
- Skin laxity (especially mid/lower face)
- Diffuse volume loss (overall “tired” look without one obvious hollow)
- Texture support for dull, less resilient skin
- Jawline definition with structure + tightening, without overfilling
- Temples and cheeks when age-related changes soften contour
Radiesse® is less ideal for very precise, small-area volume needs (e.g., tear troughs or fine lip lines). Those areas are typically better served with hyaluronic acid fillers.
What results can you expect?
Radiesse® is not designed for instant dramatic change — and that’s the point. The results build as collagen forms, which takes time but tends to look smoother and more natural.
Common outcomes patients notice once fully developed:
- firmer, less lax skin in treated areas
- improved texture and skin quality
- more natural-looking support without a “filler look”
- cleaner contour through jawline and cheek area
Realistic expectations matter: Radiesse® can meaningfully improve what’s there, but it doesn’t stop aging and it won’t replace surgery in advanced cases. Results vary based on baseline tissue, dose, and treatment plan.

Treatment at The Retreat Berlin
All treatments are physician-performed. Dosage, injection depth, and placement are planned around your individual anatomy — not a one-size protocol. If you’ve had fillers or biostimulators before, we factor that into your plan.
After treatment, we’ll outline next steps: when a check-in makes sense, whether a second session might be beneficial, and what complementary measures can help support results long-term.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Typically 12–18 months. Duration depends on area, product amount, and your metabolism. Highly mobile areas can fade sooner than less mobile zones like temples or cheeks.
A mild early effect can be visible immediately from the gel. Collagen-building develops over 4–6 weeks, with full results commonly at 3–6 months.
Radiesse® is widely used and well documented. CaHA is biocompatible and naturally broken down over time. Temporary swelling, redness, and tenderness can occur. Rare but serious complications are possible with any injectable — which is why treatment should only be performed by experienced physicians.
Yes. Combination with PRP/PRF (autologous therapies) can be appropriate and may support tissue regeneration. We plan combinations in a structured sequence with clear priorities.
Often one session is enough. In more pronounced cases, or when aiming for a very even improvement, a second session after a few months may be recommended. We decide this together after assessment.
Want to know if Radiesse® is right for you?
That can only be determined reliably through a personal assessment. We’ll review your skin, goals, and treatment history and recommend what’s medically and aesthetically appropriate — clearly, and without pressure.
